How it works
1.
Send us a list of the LEGO sets you have available. We will tell you which ones we would like to take into the range.
2.
We add your sets to the range. As soon as a customer rents one of them, you are notified.
3.
Depending on the option you chose, you either ship the set yourself or hand it to our logistics. Either way we take care of matching, payment and customer support.
4.
After the rental you receive your payout. If several of your sets go out in one month, we bundle the payout monthly.
What it takes
At least 5 LEGO sets you can make available
Recommended set size: from around 1'500 pieces, because larger sets are in higher demand
Sets must be complete and in good condition

Who can become a BlockAbo contributor?
In principle anyone resident in Switzerland can become a contributor. For logistical reasons we currently only take on people who can offer at least 5 LEGO sets for rental. Just send us a list of the sets you have available. We will then tell you which of them we would like to take into the range.
Which LEGO sets are best suited to renting out?
There is no fixed piece count. In our experience, though, larger sets are asked for far more often than smaller ones. As a rough guide we suggest sets from around 1'500 pieces. Particularly popular are sets from LEGO Technic, LEGO Creator Expert, LEGO Icons and LEGO Star Wars, along with limited or retired sets. Send us a list of the sets you have available and we will give you individual feedback on which models we would like to take on.
How much do I earn as a contributor and when am I paid?
For every successful rental of one of your LEGO sets you receive CHF 25.–. Payment is made within 30 days of the rental in question. If several of your sets go out within one month, we bundle the amounts and transfer them in a single monthly payout. That reduces the administrative work for both sides.
Who handles shipping, cleaning and checking the sets?
As a contributor you handle shipping as well as cleaning and checking your sets for completeness. To keep the process as simple as possible, we provide every document personalised as a PDF: into each box you ship you put an instruction sheet and a prepared return label. That way the renter knows exactly how to send the set back.
How do I clean a LEGO set between two rentals?
We suggest washing the set at 30 °C in the machine after every rental. That keeps the bricks hygienically sound and looking new even after many rentals. Take care to clean delicate elements such as stickered pieces, electronics or large structural parts by hand.
How are the sets stored and shipped?
To make cleaning and handling simpler, we store and ship our LEGO sets in large wash bags of about 50 × 60 cm. That way the sets can go into the machine still in the bag and stay safely together in transit. Individual pieces go missing far less often.
How do I check a set is complete after it comes back?
The simplest way to check a LEGO set is complete is to weigh it before and after the rental. Missing pieces show up within seconds, far faster than counting by hand.
What happens if pieces are lost or damaged?
Because most BlockAbo renters are adults, pieces go missing very rarely in practice. Small discrepancies can usually be fixed with spare parts. If a set is treated carelessly, though, and several pieces are missing or elements are damaged, the renter is obliged under our terms to cover the loss.
Can I withdraw my sets from BlockAbo at any time?
Yes, as a contributor you keep full control over your LEGO collection at all times. You decide which sets you offer for rental and can withdraw them whenever you like. Your sets remain your property throughout. BlockAbo only handles the matching between you and the renters.
