About the LEGO Disney Castle set

At 74 cm tall the Disney Castle is one of the largest LEGO buildings there is, and by far the most playful. Behind the facade are furnished rooms: a throne room, a library, a bedroom, a kitchen. Outside there is a balcony with a firework detail. Seven minifigures come with it, among them Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy in their festive outfits.

The many towers are built individually and put on at the end. Because they are similar in construction, you get considerably faster towards the end; for the 4’080 pieces, 12 to 16 hours is realistic. The castle has not been in the shops for years and trades second hand at collector prices. Then there is the space: 74 × 48 × 31 cm will not fit in any normal display cabinet. A set to build without having to own it.

Common questions about the LEGO Disney Castle

How long does the LEGO Disney Castle take to build?

Reckon on 12 to 16 hours for the 4080 pieces. The many towers are each built separately and put on at the end. Because the towers are similar in construction, it goes considerably faster towards the end than at the start.

How big is the LEGO Disney Castle (71040)?

The castle is 74 cm tall, 48 cm wide and 31 cm deep. That makes it one of the largest LEGO buildings there is, and it needs a shelf bay of its own. It will not fit in a normal display cabinet.

Is the LEGO Disney Castle 71040 still available?

No. The set has been retired and trades at collector prices on the second-hand market. LEGO later brought out a newer, smaller castle variant as 43222, but that is not the same model.

What can you see inside the Disney Castle?

Several furnished rooms: a throne room, a library, a bedroom and a kitchen, plus a balcony with a firework detail. Seven minifigures come with it, among them Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
