About the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS set

The first licensed supercar from LEGO Technic at 1:8 scale, developed together with Porsche. The orange model has a four-speed sequential gearbox, shifted with the paddles on the steering wheel, and a flat-six engine whose pistons move as you push it along. The doors, bonnet and engine cover open, the rear wing is adjustable, and the glovebox holds its own serial number.

The 2’704 pieces take 8 to 12 hours. The start, with the chassis and gearbox, takes longest, and that is where it is decided whether everything shifts later. Finished, the car is 57 cm long. The set was retired at the end of 2018 and cost CHF 349.– new. Rented, you build it without paying today’s collector’s price.

Common questions about the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS

How long does the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) take to build?

Plan on 8 to 12 hours for the 2704 pieces. The hardest part is the start, with the chassis and gearbox. The orange bodywork goes much faster after that.

How big is the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

The car is 57 cm long, 25 cm wide and 17 cm high, roughly 1:8 scale. It only just fits on a normal shelf and looks better on a sideboard.

Can you still buy the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

No. Set 42056 came out in 2016 and was retired at the end of 2018. New, it cost CHF 349.–, and sealed copies now trade for considerably more. Rented, you build it once without paying that price.

Does the gearbox on the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS work?

Yes. The sequential gearbox has four gears and is shifted with the paddles on the steering wheel. Push the car and you see the pistons moving in the flat-six engine. The gearbox is also where a misplaced gear only shows up hours later.

What else is in the LEGO Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

The doors, bonnet and engine cover open, and there is a suitcase in the front luggage compartment. The rear wing is adjustable, the suspension springs are red, and the glovebox holds a plate with its own serial number.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
