About the LEGO Technic Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar set
The 9X8 is the hybrid race car Peugeot returned to the World Endurance Championship with in 2022, and LEGO has rebuilt it in 1’775 pieces at 1:10 scale. In the back sits a V6 with moving pistons that drives the rear wheels, joined by an electric motor with a battery. The front and rear suspension were developed specially for this model, and you steer with the steering wheel or a gear on the roof. The doors open, and some light elements glow in the dark, a nod to the night at Le Mans.
Allow 6 to 8 hours. The drivetrain and suspension go quickly; the bodywork and the many logo stickers are what take the time. Finished, the car is 50 cm long and 22 cm wide and takes a shelf to itself. LEGO took the set off the market at the end of 2025; new it cost CHF 209. Rented, you build it once at your own pace and get the space back afterwards.
Common questions about the LEGO Technic Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar
How long does the LEGO Peugeot 9X8 take to build?
Allow 6 to 8 hours for the 1775 pieces. The chassis, V6 and suspension go quickly. What takes longer is the bodywork, whose panels have to sit exactly, and the many stickers with the Peugeot and sponsor logos.
How big is the LEGO Peugeot 9X8 once built?
The model is 50 cm long, 22 cm wide and 13 cm high, at 1:10 scale. It fits on a normal shelf, but more or less takes it over.
Can you still buy the LEGO Peugeot 9X8?
No, LEGO took set 42156 off the market at the end of 2025. New it cost CHF 209.–, and since then you will only find it second-hand or from resellers.
Is the LEGO Peugeot 9X8 hard to build?
It is rated 18+, but for a Technic car it is very manageable. Take care with the drivetrain at the back: a misplaced gear only shows when the pistons stop moving as the car rolls. If you have built a Technic car before, you will know the routine.
What is special about the LEGO Peugeot 9X8?
The hybrid drive is recreated, with a V6 driving the rear wheels and an electric motor with a battery. You steer with the steering wheel in the cockpit or a gear on the roof. On top of that, some light elements glow in the dark, a nod to the night hours at Le Mans.
Questions about the BlockAbo rental model
How does BlockAbo actually work?
You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.
What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?
There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.
How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?
Every set goes through our quality check after it comes back, before it goes out again. We check its condition, wash the sets regularly at 30 °C with soap and keep track of whether every piece is there. That way a clean and complete set reaches you.
Why are all the pieces mixed in one bag?
The sets are checked between rentals and washed regularly. That is why the numbered bags from the original packaging are gone, and you get all the pieces loose in one large wash bag. Up to about 2'000 pieces you build straight from the bag; for bigger sets a bit of sorting first is worth it. For the return you sort nothing: take the set fully apart and put every piece back in the wash bag.
Why are there no building instructions in the box?
Paper instructions and sticker sheets do not last many rentals, so we send the sets without them. The instructions for every set are free at lego.com/en-ch/service/building-instructions and in the LEGO Builder app. Search there by set number or name.
What happens if pieces are missing or break?
Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.
How fast does the set reach me?
Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.
Why is renting more sustainable than buying?
A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
