About the LEGO Old Fishing Store set

The Old Fishing Store stands on a rock base above the water, with a jetty, a rowing boat and a roof that looks like it has been through a few storms. Both levels are furnished inside: the shop below with rods, nets and a counter, the flat above with a stove and a bed. The roof and the floors lift off, and four minifigures are included.

It is built in three clearly separated sections: base, shop floor, roof structure. That makes the 2’049 pieces feel shorter than they are; reckon on 6 to 8 hours. Finished, the model measures 32 × 25 × 25 cm. The set was retired back at the end of 2018, there was never a re-release, and second hand it now costs several times that. Renting is the simplest way left to build it at all.

Common questions about the LEGO Old Fishing Store

How long does the LEGO Old Fishing Store take to build?

Reckon on 6 to 8 hours for the 2049 pieces. The build comes in three parts: the rock base, the shop floor and the roof structure. Each section looks different, which makes the set feel shorter than it is.

How big is the LEGO Old Fishing Store (21310)?

The model measures 32 × 25 × 25 cm. It stands on a rock base with a jetty, which makes it look taller than the footprint suggests. It fits on a normal shelf.

Can you still buy the LEGO Old Fishing Store?

No. Ideas set 21310 was retired back at the end of 2018 and has only been available second hand since, often at a multiple of the original price. LEGO has never announced a re-release. Renting is now the only straightforward way to build it once.

Both floors are furnished: the shop below with rods, nets and a counter, the flat above with a stove and a bed. The roof and the floors lift off. Four minifigures and a small rowing boat are included.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
