About the LEGO Tree House set

The Tree House was one of the first LEGO Ideas sets aimed clearly at adult builders, and it is still one of the loveliest. A gnarled trunk carries three huts with furnished interiors, a kitchen, a bedroom and a roof terrace, linked by ladders and a walkway. At 3’036 pieces it stays surprisingly compact: 37 × 27 × 24 cm, a normal shelf.

The leaves are the special part. Two complete sets come with it, green and autumnal, and both are made from sugar-cane bio-polyethylene. They were the very first LEGO elements made from a renewable raw material. Changing between the seasons takes an evening. LEGO retired the set at the end of 2024, and second hand it usually sits well above the old shop price. Here you build it, keep it on display for a few weeks, and send it back when you want the next one.

Common questions about the LEGO Tree House

How long does the LEGO Tree House take to build?

Reckon on 8 to 12 hours. The trunk and the baseplate go briskly; the time goes into the three huts and above all into the foliage. The leaves are placed one by one, and there are a great many of them. That is the part best spread across several evenings.

How big is the LEGO Tree House once built?

The finished model measures 37 × 27 × 24 cm and so fits on a normal shelf. For a set of 3036 pieces it is surprisingly compact. The pieces are in the detail, not in the size. An ordinary dining table is plenty to build on.

Can you still buy the LEGO Tree House?

No. LEGO took set 21318 out of the range at the end of 2024. New, it is only available through resellers, usually well above its shop price of CHF 269.– at the time. Here you can still rent and build it as normal.

What is special about the LEGO Tree House foliage?

Two complete sets of leaves come with the set: green for summer and yellow-orange for autumn. So you can change it over without buying anything extra. The leaves were also the first LEGO elements made from sugar-cane bio-polyethylene.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
