About the LEGO A-Frame Cabin set
The A-Frame Cabin is a holiday house with the typical steep roof that reaches all the way down to the base, designed by a fan and voted for on LEGO Ideas. The roof comes off in two halves. Underneath, the bedroom is upstairs, and the living area, work corner and kitchenette are downstairs. Three trees in red, yellow and green stand around the cabin, along with a canoe, four minifigures and eleven animals, from the otter to the squirrel. The trees can also be joined into a small island that you can only reach by canoe.
The 2’082 pieces take 5 to 7 hours to build. The two roof halves and the branches of the trees, which you fill with leaves one by one, take longest. The cabin itself is only 21 × 22 cm and 24 cm tall; with the trees beside it you need a whole shelf. LEGO retired the set at the end of 2024. Rented, you build it once and keep it on display for a few weeks.
Common questions about the LEGO A-Frame Cabin
How long does the LEGO A-Frame Cabin (21338) take to build?
Reckon on 5 to 7 hours for the 2082 pieces. The base of grey stones and the furnishings go briskly. Most of the time goes into the two roof halves and the three trees, whose branches you fill with leaves one by one.
How big is the LEGO A-Frame Cabin once built?
The cabin is 24 cm tall, 21 cm wide and 22 cm deep, so it fits on a normal shelf. Set the three trees up around it and the scene gets noticeably wider. You can also build them as a small island next to it instead.
Can you still buy the LEGO A-Frame Cabin?
No. The Ideas set 21338 came out in February 2023 and was retired at the end of 2024, after not quite two years. New, it cost CHF 189.–, and since then it is only available through resellers. Rented, you build it once without having to hunt one down.
Can you take the roof off the LEGO A-Frame Cabin?
Yes. The steep roof is made of two halves that you lift off separately. Underneath is the bedroom upstairs and, downstairs, the living area with a work corner and a kitchenette, all furnished with accessories.
What comes with the LEGO A-Frame Cabin besides the cabin?
Three buildable trees, a canoe, four minifigures and eleven animal figures: two moths, two butterflies, two frogs, two birds, an otter, a spider and a squirrel. The trees can be joined into a small island that the figures can only reach by canoe.
Questions about the BlockAbo rental model
How does BlockAbo actually work?
You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.
What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?
There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.
How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?
Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.
Why are all the pieces mixed in one bag?
After every rental the set is washed and checked brick by brick for completeness. After that the numbered bags from the original packaging are gone, and you get all the pieces loose in one large wash bag. Up to about 2'000 pieces you build straight from the bag; for bigger sets a bit of sorting first is worth it. For the return you sort nothing: take the set fully apart and put every piece back in the wash bag.
Why are there no building instructions in the box?
Paper instructions and sticker sheets do not last many rentals, so we send the sets without them. The instructions for every set are free at lego.com/en-ch/service/building-instructions and in the LEGO Builder app. Search there by set number or name.
What happens if pieces are missing or break?
Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.
How fast does the set reach me?
Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.
Why is renting more sustainable than buying?
A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
