About the LEGO Globe set

A globe that really turns: the sphere sits on an axle in the stand and moves freely, and the continents are raised so you can feel them. What usually gets lost in product photos: the ocean surfaces are made of phosphorescent material and glow in the dark. A small plaque on the stand can be written on.

The sphere is built from individual segments added one after another. Repetitive, but the continents provide variety. For 2’585 pieces, 8 to 10 hours is realistic. Finished, the globe with its stand is 40 cm tall and takes about as much room as a larger plant pot. The Ideas set has been retired and is only available second hand.

Common questions about the LEGO Globe

How long does the LEGO Globe take to build?

Reckon on 8 to 10 hours for the 2585 pieces. The sphere is built from individual segments added one after another. That is repetitive, but the continents provide variety.

How big is the LEGO Globe (21332)?

With its stand the globe is 40 cm tall, 30 cm wide and 26 cm deep. So it takes about as much room as a larger plant pot and fits on most sideboards.

Does the LEGO Globe really turn?

Yes. The sphere sits on an axle in the brass-look stand and turns freely, like a real globe. The continents are raised, so you can feel them.

Can you still buy the LEGO Globe?

No, Ideas set 21332 has been retired. It also glows in the dark. The ocean surfaces are made of phosphorescent material, which product photos usually do not show.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
