About the LEGO Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D™ set
This is LEGO’s first Star Trek set: the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D from The Next Generation, 60 cm long on an angled stand. The saucer section lifts off, the way the ship separates in the series, and the shuttle bay at the stern opens. The large surface of the saucer is built from offset plates and printed markings so it does not read as a smooth disc. Nine minifigures come with it, from Picard to Guinan.
With 3’600 pieces around twelve hours is realistic. The saucer is the long stretch: a lot of uniform plate laying in rings before there is visible progress. On display, the Enterprise needs 60 × 48 cm, and because it floats free on the stand it is more sensitive to knocks than a building. It suits renting well, because it is a pure display model with no second use.
Common questions about the LEGO Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D™
How long does the LEGO U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D take to build?
Reckon on 10 to 15 hours. The hull with the warp nacelles goes quickly; a large share of the 3'600 pieces sits in the saucer section. You build that in rings from the inside out, a long and very uniform stretch best spread over two evenings.
How big is the LEGO Enterprise NCC-1701-D once built?
It measures 60 cm long, 48 cm wide, and stands 27 cm tall on the stand. The width is the surprise: the saucer overhangs the stand far to both sides, so a narrow shelf is not enough. It shows best on a sideboard or a table of its own.
Does the saucer section really separate?
Yes. The command section lifts off the rest of the ship, as in the saucer separation in the series. There is also a shuttle bay at the stern that opens, and a plaque with the ship's name and registry for the stand.
Which minifigures come with the LEGO Enterprise?
Nine: Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William Riker, Lieutenant Commander Data, Lieutenant Worf, Counsellor Deanna Troi, Dr Beverly Crusher, Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge, Guinan and Wesley Crusher. They stand on a small strip of their own beside the model, not inside the ship.
Is the LEGO Enterprise hard to build?
Technically no. There are no exotic building techniques; the difficulty is the stamina for the saucer. One thing to plan for: the finished model floats on its stand and is therefore more vulnerable to knocks than a set standing flat on a baseplate.
Questions about the BlockAbo rental model
How does BlockAbo actually work?
You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.
What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?
There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.
How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?
Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.
What happens if pieces are missing or break?
Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.
How fast does the set reach me?
Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.
Why is renting more sustainable than buying?
A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
