About the LEGO Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex set
Not a dinosaur but a fossil: the set recreates a T. rex skeleton as it would stand in a natural history museum, on a display stand, with a name plate and a separate skull as an exhibit of its own. For a model from the Jurassic World range it is strikingly restrained.
The skull and ribcage are the most involved sections; the spine and tail consist of many similar segments and go faster. For 3’145 pieces, 9 to 12 hours is realistic. Two minifigures come with it, but the build is meant as a museum scene rather than something to play with. Released in 2025 and currently in the shops.
Common questions about the LEGO Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex
How long does the LEGO T. rex skeleton take to build?
Reckon on 9 to 12 hours for the 3145 pieces. The skull and the ribcage are the most involved sections; the spine and tail consist of many similar segments and go faster.
Is the LEGO Dinosaur Fossil a skeleton or a dinosaur?
A skeleton. Set 76968 recreates the fossil of a Tyrannosaurus rex as it would stand in a natural history museum, stand and information plaque included. It is not a model of a living dinosaur.
Is the LEGO T. rex skeleton still available?
Yes. The set came out in 2025 and is currently on regular sale. It belongs to the Jurassic World range but is far more grown-up in its design than the usual play sets in that line.
What comes with the set besides the skeleton?
A display stand with a name plate, a separate skull as an exhibit in its own right and two minifigures. The build is deliberately meant as a museum scene rather than something to play with.
Questions about the BlockAbo rental model
How does BlockAbo actually work?
You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.
What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?
There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.
How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?
Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.
What happens if pieces are missing or break?
Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.
How fast does the set reach me?
Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.
Why is renting more sustainable than buying?
A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
