About the LEGO Assembly Square set

Assembly Square came out in 2017 for the tenth anniversary of the Modular Buildings and, at 38 cm, is wider than the usual houses in the series. Eight rooms sit on three floors: a bakery, a florist and a café at street level, a music shop, a photo studio and a dental surgery above, and at the very top a dance studio and a flat with a roof terrace and barbecue. The floors lift off, and eight minifigures and a baby live inside.

The 4’002 pieces take 12 to 15 hours, most of it on the façade with the tower and the roof front. Finished, the house stands 38 cm wide and 35 cm high, so a deep shelf is enough. LEGO retired the set at the end of 2023. Rented, you build the whole thing once without clearing a street corner for it.

Common questions about the LEGO Assembly Square

How long does LEGO Assembly Square (10255) take to build?

Plan on 12 to 15 hours for the 4002 pieces. The set builds floor by floor, and each one is furnished in its own right. The façade takes longest, with its windows, arches and the tower.

How big is LEGO Assembly Square when built?

The building is 38 cm wide, 25 cm deep and 35 cm high. That makes it noticeably wider than the usual 25 cm of the series. A deep shelf or a chest of drawers is enough.

Can you still buy LEGO Assembly Square?

No. Set 10255 was retired at the end of 2023 after seven years and has only been available from collectors since. Renting is the easy way to build it once before you decide whether you want a whole street.

What's inside LEGO Assembly Square?

Eight rooms and a roof terrace over three floors. Downstairs a bakery, a florist and a café, in the middle a music shop, a photo studio and a dental surgery, at the top a dance studio and a flat with a roof terrace and barbecue. It comes with eight minifigures and a baby.

Why is Assembly Square a special Modular Building?

It came out in 2017 for the tenth anniversary of the series and, with over 4000 pieces, is one of the largest Modular Buildings. The flat upstairs holds tiny models of a train, the Eiffel Tower and a modular, and one printed piece quotes the first modular, the Café Corner.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, the instructions, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set is washed at 30 °C with soap after it comes back, dried, and checked brick by brick for completeness. Only then does it go out again. So you never get a set somebody else has been through unchecked.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
