About the LEGO Santa's Visit set
A light blue house with a snowy roof, where a family waits for Santa on Christmas Eve. Downstairs are the dining table with red cushions and two candles, a kitchen with chequered tiles and a red mixer, and the living room with a fireplace, an armchair and three stockings. Upstairs, the daughter sleeps under a rocket poster. You slide Santa down the chimney, and at the bottom he knocks the flames over. The Christmas tree stands on a light brick and lights up when you press it down. Outside are a fence with a mailbox, a snowman and a tree with a birdhouse.
The 1’445 pieces in nine bags take 4 to 6 hours to build. The house is 27 cm wide and 19 cm high, and the back is open so you can see inside. LEGO retired the set at the end of 2023. Since it really only suits December, you rent it over the holidays and send it back in January.
Common questions about the LEGO Santa's Visit
How long does the LEGO Santa's Visit (10293) take to build?
Plan on 4 to 6 hours for the 1445 pieces in nine bags. Most of the time goes into the interior with the kitchen, dining table and fireplace. The most uniform stretch is the snowy roofs made of many white plates.
How big is the LEGO Santa's Visit once built?
The house is 27 cm wide, 16 cm deep and 19 cm high. With the Christmas tree, fence and path in front you need a little more space, such as a sideboard or a wide windowsill. The back is open, so place it where people can look inside.
Can you still buy the LEGO Santa's Visit?
No. Set 10293 came out in autumn 2021 and was retired at the end of 2023. New, it cost CHF 129.–; today you can only get it from resellers, usually for more. For a set that only really suits December, renting it over the holidays makes sense.
Is the LEGO Santa's Visit hard to build?
Not especially. The 18+ on the box is there because LEGO sells the Winter Village Collection to adults, not because of the technique. The angled side wings, which join the entrance with hinge plates, and the roof sections that sit on Technic beams need some attention.
How do the chimney and the light work in the LEGO Santa's Visit?
Santa fits down the chimney. Drop him in at the top and he lands in the living room, knocking over the flames, which sit on an axle. The top of the chimney comes off. The light brick is in the Christmas tree: press the tree down and the transparent pieces between the branches and the star on top light up.
Questions about the BlockAbo rental model
How does BlockAbo actually work?
You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.
What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?
There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.
How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?
Every set goes through our quality check after it comes back, before it goes out again. We check its condition, wash the sets regularly at 30 °C with soap and keep track of whether every piece is there. That way a clean and complete set reaches you.
Why are all the pieces mixed in one bag?
The sets are checked between rentals and washed regularly. That is why the numbered bags from the original packaging are gone, and you get all the pieces loose in one large wash bag. Up to about 2'000 pieces you build straight from the bag; for bigger sets a bit of sorting first is worth it. For the return you sort nothing: take the set fully apart and put every piece back in the wash bag.
Why are there no building instructions in the box?
Paper instructions and sticker sheets do not last many rentals, so we send the sets without them. The instructions for every set are free at lego.com/en-ch/service/building-instructions and in the LEGO Builder app. Search there by set number or name.
What happens if pieces are missing or break?
Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.
How fast does the set reach me?
Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.
Why is renting more sustainable than buying?
A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
