About the LEGO The White House set

The White House in microscale, 47 cm wide and built in three sections. In the middle stands the main building with the round columned portico, the black roof and the flag on top. On the left the West Wing with the Oval Office joins it, on the right the East Wing, linked by colonnades whose columns are small plates with a bar. Then come the Rose Garden and the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, with hedges of rounded green plates and pink flowering trees. There are no minifigures, but there is a nameplate on the base.

The 1’483 pieces take 4 to 6 hours. The time goes into the white façades, which you attach sideways from many small parts, and into lining up the columns of the portico. The three sections are held together by only a few studs, so you move them one at a time. Built, the model needs 47 × 20 cm and fits on a normal shelf. LEGO retired it at the end of 2023; new, it cost CHF 129.–.

Common questions about the LEGO The White House

How long does the LEGO White House (21054) take to build?

Plan on 4 to 6 hours for the 1'483 pieces. You build three sections one after the other: first the main building, then the East Wing and finally the West Wing, each with its garden. Most of the time goes into the white façades, which are made of many small parts attached sideways.

How big is the LEGO White House when built?

The model is 47 cm wide, 20 cm deep and 11 cm high. It is low and wide like the original, so it fits on a normal shelf or a wide windowsill. You can also stand the three sections separately if you lack the space for all of it in one place.

Can you still buy the LEGO White House?

No. Set 21054 came out in June 2020 and was retired at the end of 2023. New, it cost CHF 129.– in Switzerland. What you still find in shops today is leftover stock, and it usually costs a good deal more. Rented, you build it once without paying the collector's price.

Is the LEGO White House hard to build?

Not especially. It is rated 18+, but that has more to do with the target audience than with the technique. Most of the walls are attached sideways, and at the portico you have to line the columns up exactly under the round plates on the roof. Otherwise the instructions are easy to follow.

What is the difference from the older LEGO White House 21006?

Set 21006 from 2010 had 561 pieces and showed only the main building, without wings and without the Oval Office. 21054 adds both wings, the colonnades between them, the Rose Garden and the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden. At 47 cm it is also a good twice as wide as the old model.

Questions about the BlockAbo rental model

How does BlockAbo actually work?

You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.

What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?

There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.

Can I cancel the subscription at any time?

Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.

How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?

Every set goes through our quality check after it comes back, before it goes out again. We check its condition, wash the sets regularly at 30 °C with soap and keep track of whether every piece is there. That way a clean and complete set reaches you.

Why are all the pieces mixed in one bag?

The sets are checked between rentals and washed regularly. That is why the numbered bags from the original packaging are gone, and you get all the pieces loose in one large wash bag. Up to about 2'000 pieces you build straight from the bag; for bigger sets a bit of sorting first is worth it. For the return you sort nothing: take the set fully apart and put every piece back in the wash bag.

Why are there no building instructions in the box?

Paper instructions and sticker sheets do not last many rentals, so we send the sets without them. The instructions for every set are free at lego.com/en-ch/service/building-instructions and in the LEGO Builder app. Search there by set number or name.

What happens if pieces are missing or break?

Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.

How fast does the set reach me?

Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.

Why is renting more sustainable than buying?

A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
