About the LEGO Great Pyramid of Giza set
The Great Pyramid of Giza from the Architecture line shows the tomb and its surroundings as they might have looked in the 26th century BC. You build half the pyramid, as a cross-section model. Lift off the white outer shell and you see the ramps that probably carried the stone blocks upwards, and from behind the King’s and Queen’s chambers lie open with the main passages. All around are a stretch of the Nile with two feluccas, two small pyramids, two mortuary temples, sphinx statues, a workers’ village and an obelisk.
Allow 5 to 7 hours for the 1’476 pieces. The landscape is fiddly and varied, while the sides of the pyramid are uniform. Finished, the model measures 35 × 32 cm and stands 20 cm high, which fits on a sideboard. LEGO has retired the set, and new it is now only available from resellers. With us you can still build it.
Common questions about the LEGO Great Pyramid of Giza
How long does the LEGO Great Pyramid of Giza (21058) take to build?
Allow 5 to 7 hours for the 1'476 pieces. Many of them are small: the village, temples, sphinx statues and boats are made of a few bricks and plates that you place one by one. The sides of the pyramid go faster afterwards, but are more uniform.
How big is the LEGO Great Pyramid of Giza once built?
The model is 35 cm wide, 32 cm deep and 20 cm high. It fits on a sideboard or a deep shelf, and overhangs the usual 30 cm slightly. Because the chambers are open at the back, it is worth a spot where you can also see it from behind.
Can you still buy the LEGO Great Pyramid of Giza?
No. Set 21058 came out in 2022 and has since been retired by LEGO; it cost CHF 159.– new. It is now only available from resellers. If you want to build it once, you can still rent it from us.
Is the LEGO Great Pyramid of Giza hard to build?
No. The techniques are simple, and the 18+ age rating stands more for patience than for difficulty. The challenging parts are the many small pieces in the landscape and the removable outer shell, which has to sit neatly on the core at the end.
Can you combine two LEGO Great Pyramids of Giza into a whole one?
Yes. The set builds only half the pyramid, as a cross-section model. With a second copy of 21058 you put the two halves together into the complete pyramid. On its own the model is still complete, because the cut side with its chambers and passages is designed to be looked at.
Questions about the BlockAbo rental model
How does BlockAbo actually work?
You pick a set from our collection and we send it to your door for free. You build it, keep it as long as you like, and send it back when you are ready for the next one. After a month at the earliest, with no upper limit. Then you choose your next set.
What does BlockAbo cost and what is included?
There are three options: the single rental at a one-off CHF 42.–, the monthly plan at CHF 39.– per month and the yearly plan at CHF 29.– per month. Included are the complete set, delivery to you and the cleaning. You cover the return, and the label is already in the box.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
Yes. The monthly plan can be cancelled to the end of any month, with no reason and no notice period. You send the set back and that is that. The yearly plan commits you for twelve months and costs about a quarter less per month in return.
How hygienic are rented LEGO sets?
Every set goes through our quality check after it comes back, before it goes out again. We check its condition, wash the sets regularly at 30 °C with soap and keep track of whether every piece is there. That way a clean and complete set reaches you.
Why are all the pieces mixed in one bag?
The sets are checked between rentals and washed regularly. That is why the numbered bags from the original packaging are gone, and you get all the pieces loose in one large wash bag. Up to about 2'000 pieces you build straight from the bag; for bigger sets a bit of sorting first is worth it. For the return you sort nothing: take the set fully apart and put every piece back in the wash bag.
Why are there no building instructions in the box?
Paper instructions and sticker sheets do not last many rentals, so we send the sets without them. The instructions for every set are free at lego.com/en-ch/service/building-instructions and in the LEGO Builder app. Search there by set number or name.
What happens if pieces are missing or break?
Up to ten lost small pieces are no problem and are included in the price. It happens, vacuum cleaners are merciless. We only get in touch for larger damage or missing large pieces. You do not have to go over the carpet with tweezers.
How fast does the set reach me?
Orders placed before 14:00 go out the same working day. After that Swiss Post usually takes one to two working days. We deliver anywhere in Switzerland and delivery to you is free.
Why is renting more sustainable than buying?
A LEGO set is usually built once and then sits on a shelf or in a cellar for years. With us the same set passes through eight to ten people. For the same number of sets built, that is up to 90 % less newly produced plastic.
